Open source projects like WordPress thrive on the passion and dedication of their contributors. But how does someone move from simply using WordPress to becoming an active contributor who helps shape the platform’s future? In this session, we’ll explore the personal and collective benefits of contributing to WordPress. You’ll learn why giving back matters, how even small contributions make a big difference, and what steps you can take to get started. Drawing from my own journey as part of the WordPress Training Team, the group behind learn.wordpress.org site, I’ll share real examples of contribution in action: from writing lessons and translating content to mentoring newcomers. By the end, you’ll see that contributing is not just about improving WordPress; it’s about growing as an individual, connecting with people around the world, and being part of something bigger than yourself.
