Say hi to Jordan Hlebarov a.k.a. JD who is an entrepreneur and a mountain biker. He has been working on developing different types of websites in the last 15 years, and during the last 12 – exclusively with WordPress. He loves to roam through various plug-ins and themes to make his clients’ lives easier.
Jordan spoke at WordCamp Varna this year, so he is all warmed up for WordCamp Sofia in November!
In his talk, Content interfaces – quality content without technical details, Jordan will share his thoughts on the popular visual editors, other specific content editors, theme settings or how to actually make your clients feel happy while they’re using the websites you’ve built for them.
Even though his presentation will be in Bulgarian, you can get to know Jordan by reading the interview we did with him and have a chat with him at WordCamp Sofia.
Hey Jordan, please introduce yourself.
Hi, I’m Jordan Hlebarov. I’m from Sofia, BulgariaWhat’s your specialty?
My specialty is jack-of-all-trades. No, just kidding 🙂 I’ve been designing and developing WordPress sites for quite a while and have gone through different roles in this process. Currently, my day-to-day work consists mostly of WordPress architecture design and a bit of frontend dev.How many languages do you speak?
Bulgarian is my native tongue, I’m fluent in English and very beginner wanna-be in Spanish. What was your first encounter with WordPress?
My first encounter with WordPress was way back in 2003 when Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little forked the b2 cafelog software, which then I was using for my personal blog. In the period 2003-2006 I was using it for various personal projects, as well as my blog. Since 2007 WordPress has been the platform of choice for me for all projects that I do – personal or for clients. What is the best WordPress advice you have ever received?
„Solve your clients needs first.“What is your motivation to speak at WordCamp Sofia 2017?
I love my craft and what I do. I want to spread the word about good practices that my team and I have come up to use on a daily basis with the whole WordPress community. How did you you choose the topic of your talk?In my experience I’ve got to know that developing a site is not the end game of a project. It’s the way a client afterwards uses the site and how he/she manages to work with the content. That’s why I want to focus a bit and turn developers’ attention to how things are used and try to get them in the shoes of their clients. When was the last time you visited a public library?Maybe while I was doing my MA thesis. In the recent years… do online bookstore marketplaces count? 🙂
