WordCamp Sofia 2017 speakers: Introducing Luca Sartoni

At WordCamp Sofia on November 11 you get to meet extraordinary professionals from the WordPress world. We’ll do our best to let you get to know them better before you meet face to face starting right here with Italian media professional Luca Sartoni.

This will be Luca’s second talk at WordCamp Sofia. Some of you might remember his talk „Why The Plumber Always Wins – How to Become a Better WordPress Professional“ at WordCamp Sofia 2015. Luca has more than a decade of technical and marketing expertise and he works for Automattic where he occupies the curious Protector of Asyncronicity position.

Thanks to his extensive experience in business environments ranging from SMEs to large corporate projects, Luca helps companies scale up by implementing data-driven strategies. He does not believe in Santa Claus, magic spells and everything not backed by facts but since it’s a confirmed fact that he will speak at WordCamp Sofia 2017, we decided to ask him a couple of more questions. Here goes:

Hey Luca, can you introduce yourself for the people who don’t yet know you?
My name is Luca Sartoni and I come from many different places. If I have to call a place home, that’s Vienna, Austria. But things change quickly, so maybe next time you ask me, I might give a different answer.

What’s your specialty?
Building bridges and connecting people. I like to connect people with other people, or with the best product on the market, or with their next hobby.

How many languages do you speak?
Not enough of them, unfortunately. I fluently speak Italian and English, I can get my way around German, enough to get myself in trouble, but not enough to get myself out of trouble. I also speak business language, and developer language, and sometimes designer language, again, I am good at building bridges and connecting people.

What was your first encounter with WordPress?
In 2006 I was looking into publishing the outcome of some university classes I was taking and I needed a website. I got my website in 5 minutes, I never got my university degree. But the website is still stere: https://luca.blog

What is the best WordPress advice you have ever received?
„Just try it.”

What is your motivation to speak at WordCamp Sofia 2017?
Some people would say that I’m attracted by the huge screen behind the podium, some other would tell I’m coming to meet the amazing community there. My answer is: popcorn. I come for the popcorn.

Share with us a guilty pleasure you occasionally enjoy.
Pizza – and I enjoy it not so occasionally!

This year Luca will share with us all the things he wished he knew when he started his freelancer career as a marketing professional. He will tell us about three marketing lessons that he learned the hard way, working on small, medium, and large companies for more than 15 years in the business. How to increase your revenue, lower your costs, keeping the focus on your core values. How to position your services, charging fare amounts, developing better relationships with your clients.
