#WCSOF 2018 Highlights: Marketing and Business talks

It’s time for another sneak peek at our Schedule and what our amazing speakers have prepared for you this year. Today we’d like to proudly present to you the Marketing and Business talks you will be able to attend!

Please note that part of these talks will be in Bulgarian language thus their description below  is also in Bulgarian.

Agile Culture not Agile Frameworks

In this talk, Aleksandar Savkovic, who presented an extremely intriguing lecture at WordCamp 2017 will discuss how to create an environment and atmosphere that can support Agile frameworks, how to change the mindset and how to handle team that you inherited.

Building data-driven buyer personas

Vassilena Valchanova spoke about digital marketing on many occasions, and she’s rather well known in the marketing world. We anticipate a deep dive in the data-driven marketing territory with her talk – this is what she had to say when asked about the lecture:

„We often put a dividing line between quantitative data and the personal relationship with clients. The thinking goes that if we focus on numbers too much we forget the actual people behind them. We’ll fight this notion by demonstrating how data can help you understand your users and build better buyer personas. We’ll answer the following questions:

– What can Google Analytics, Facebook Audience Insights, and Linkedin Website Demographics teach us about our audience?

– How to build on top of quantitative information with interviews and personal feedback?

– How to group and segment data into distinct personas?“

The WordPress SMB’s Guide to Partnering with Large Companies

Radost Dacheva will discuss with us a very important topic – how to partner with bigger companies. She says as follows:

„Small companies can gain a lot from strategic partnerships with larger organizations, and this is also true in the WordPress space. But if you run a small company or agency and your cold emails and pitches aren’t even getting a reply, it might be time to review your approach. As Key Partnership Manager at SiteGround, I develop relations with large companies, from which I want something, and I also deal with small WordPress business owners that want something from me. The truth is, if I receive an email that is too vague or requires too much follow up, the partnership becomes less attractive. Luckily, there is a right way to do this. In this talk, I’ll share my strategy for writing a winning partnership proposal that will get you noticed and yield the best results. I’ll share practical tips and guidelines to help companies of any size articulate the benefits of a partnership for both sides and increase the success of the collaboration. “

Change your Strategy – Introducing the three A’s

Yana Lambreva will present to us her talk in the form of a Digital PR’s guide on why and how to incorporate the Pull Approach into your Marketing Strategy. Together with Yana we’ll learn what are the three A’s, how changing the way we interact and communicate with our target audience will win us more Brand Love and Word-of-Mouth and why that is important in a rapidly changing marketing landscape.

#WCSOF 2018 Highlights: Community talks

The WordPress community has always been one of the friendliest, most helpful online groups in the digital world. Everybody involved in it knows that, and users have often expressed how proud and happy they are of this fact. This is why one of the first highlights we want to present this year is indeed the community talks. They are usually just a small part of the schedule, but nevertheless an extremely important one, as they remind us of the main reasons we’re all here and do what we do.

Without further ado, let’s see what community talks we’ll be able to hear this year!

Making WordPress Better

Being a hardcore WordPress fan will often lead to getting involved with the process of making it – this is something that thousands of people will likely confirm. We start by simply using it and than more often than not our passion for this amazing open source project grows and before we know it, we’re looking for ways to help in every way we can. It’s basic human psychology – we see other people giving and we instinctively want to do the same.

In this talk, Sergey Biryukov will share more details on how you can become part of the awesome WP community and participate in the contributor teams. His talk is an overview of how WordPress is developed, what do the various contributor teams do, and how anyone can participate in making WordPress better with code, design, accessibility, translations, support, documentation, community, marketing, or any other area.

Beyond Hello: Networking At WordCamp

As any entrepreneur will tell you, networking is crucial part of growing your contact base and establishing new opportunities for partnerships. There are professionals who even attend events exclusively to do exactly that and they do it with good reason; at some point, you may reach a better understanding than anyone else in what you do, but you can never have too many business contacts.

WordCamp events are usually an excellent place to get to know other WordPress professionals. However, many attendees stick to their own groups, attend lectures, and leave without cashing in on perhaps the most valuable part of WordCamps: networking. In his talk, Nikola Nikolov will explore some of the common reasons why attendees fail to form lasting connections. It will give some tips for more productive networking, and hopefully inspire deeper, more authentic networking at this WordCamp and beyond.
